A swim in the Egadi, a protected marine area, means immersing yourself in an uncontaminated sea. And here are the bathing areas of the archipelago.

Bathing in the Egadi Islands

The Egadi islands are a Sicilian archipelago consisting of three islands (Favignana, Marettimo, Levanzo) and two islets, as well as rocks and stacks. We are in the Marine Protected Area (largest in Europe) Egadi Islands, with the largest Posidonia oceanica prairie in the Mediterranean and with a very high biodiversity of flora and fauna. To reach the Egadi islands by ferry or hydrofoil you can leave from Trapani to the port of Favignana, to the port of Marettimo or to the port of Levanzo, while only hydrofoils depart from Marsala; there are also maritime connections within the archipelago, to travel from one island to another.

Beaches in Favignana

The island of Favignana has a coastline of approximately 33 kilometers that offers bays, coves and sandy, pebble, pebble or rocky beaches, often easily accessible.

The beach of Piscine Romane (Roman Pools), of sand and gravel, is an equipped beach on the Duilio seafront, characterized by pools dug into the rock, the result of the oldest tuff quarry in Favignana. Cala Pozzo beach

The Cala Pozzo beach is actually made up of many small white sand beaches inserted in the cliffs of this pristine bay. Sheltered from the sirocco winds, however, it can only be reached with your own vehicle. If you go there by bicycle, you will need to be quite fit.

Cala Azzurra beach

Cala Azzurra beach is actually a thin strip of sand among the many rocks of the bay. It can be easily reached from land, as well as from the sea. Libera, with a kiosk bar, is a good option for families with children.

Calamoni beach, which is located a few minutes from the town center, is made up of a series of sandy and rocky coves. With a sloping seabed, it is excellent for families with children.

Cala Faraglioni beach

The beach of Cala Faraglioni is located in the central area of ​​the rocky bay, reachable via a fairly impervious path, crossing which, you can see this crescent of pebbles inserted in the cliff that also protects the facing water mirror.

Cala Rotonda beach

Easily accessible, the beach of Cala Rotonda is made of gravel and pebbles, and is characterized by the Arch of Ulysses, an arched rock formation shaped by atmospheric agents and the spontaneous vegetation that frames it.

Scalo Vecchio and Scalo Nuovo beaches

Near the Porto Vecchio and Porto Nuovo, on the sides of Punta San Simone, near the center, there are these two beaches of the Scalo, pebbly, with sloping bottoms.

La Praia dei Nacchi beach

La Praia dei Nacchi beach, made of gravel and sand, can be reached in about twenty minutes on foot, along a path that leads to the cove of the same name.

Beaches in Levanzo

Many beaches in Levanzo are without establishments and services, and are located in coves that can be reached not only on foot, but also by sea, thanks to taxi-boats.

Cala Dogana beach

The gravel beach of Cala Dogana is located near the port, at the foot of the town, easily accessible on foot, and with a sloping seabed.

Cala Fredda beach

In this cove, called Lo Scivolo (The Slide) due to the descent that was used in ancient times to lower the tuff blocks on the boats, the rocks are flat and low, and the seabed is sandy.

The rocky coves of Marettimo

Cala Manione and Scalo Maestro can both be reached via a very difficult path or by taxi-boat service. Both neighboring coves are located near the castle of Punta Troia. The Zotta Muletti, a sloping cliff, can also be reached on foot via the path, sometimes difficult, to Punta Libeccio.

The rocky coves of Levanzo

Cala Minnola

Cala Minnola can be easily reached by walking for about twenty minutes; there is a flat cliff that slopes very gently to the sea and behind it, a few meters away, a pine forest. Cala Calcara can also be reached on foot but you have to walk for about two kilometers. The seabed is rocky but the wild vegetation that surrounds it and the marine fauna just offshore make this calanca special.
