There are so many beaches in Sardinia and there are some for all tastes and needs: this ranking rewards their easy accessibility, the beauty of the landscape and the quality of the sand.

The most beautiful Sardinian beaches easily accessible from land

Sardinia has beaches of incredible beauty. Along the island perimeter there are stretches of sandy coast set in suggestive natural landscapes and bathed by clear and transparent sea waters. Drawing up a ranking of the fifteen most beautiful beaches in the Sardinian territory is not at all easy, as they are so numerous that each selection can only be subjective. Although, in truth, after so many experiences, a list, or rather a top 15, in which those from the podium certainly appear is feasible. There are many possibilities to get to the island, thanks to the ferries that disembark in the most important ports of Sardinia. Most of the selected beaches are located on the south coast, followed by the north-east and north-west coasts. First of all, features such as easy accessibility, the presence of vegetation, the beauty of the landscape and the quality of the sand were taken into consideration.


1) Cala Domestica beach

Near Buggerru, on the southwestern Sardinian coast, there is the beach of Cala Domestica, made up of soft and fine white sand, sometimes amber or golden, set between bushy cliffs. Mainly free, it also has a not very extensive bathing establishment on the side but with all the necessary services. The water mirror of the small bay is immaculate, with iridescent colors from green to blue that allow a glimpse of the shallow and sandy bottoms. The small side beach called La Caletta can be reached by walking through a passage in the rock or by swimming. The large parking lot used only by the patrons of the cove is not far away.


2) Su Giudeu beach

The beautiful beach of Su Giudeu is located in Chia, part of the municipality of Domus de Maria. This long expanse of fine golden sand is also called de s’Abba Druci (fresh water) because there is the Spartivento pond with the homonymous dune formation, sinuous and green, where pink flamingos often stop. The seabed is so shallow that the islet in front, at low tide, can even be reached on foot. You might also see octopus of the species that gave the coast its name. There is a car park, bar, restaurant, sun lounger and umbrella rental.


3) Costa Rei beach

Costa Rei is a maritime fraction of Muravera, on the south-east coast, in the province of Southern Sardinia, which has a long coastline of fine white sand emerging from a clear turquoise sea. Along the approximately eight kilometers of beach, from Capo Ferrato to Punta di Santa Giusta, there are several bathing establishments equipped with all comforts, as well as long free stretches. Piscina Rei, Monte Nai, Ginestre and Peppino rock, identify the three areas into which the beach is divided. Sea lilies and junipers color the dunes that precede the countryside behind, with the Sette Fratelli massif, which is part of a regional park, in the background.


4) Cala Li Cossi beach

Cala Li Cossi beach is located in the province of Sassari, on the so-called Costa Paradiso, north of the island. It is free, of golden sand with an average size of grains, reachable via a path of about 800 meters with medium-easy walking difficulty, which starts from the free parking lot and ends with steps. The natural scenery is unique, thanks to the small river in the valley that flows behind the coast, between rocky hills, and the clarity of the sea water. The seabed is shallow near the shore and then quickly becomes deep. The bar also rents out sunbeds and umbrellas.


5) Principe (Prince) beach

The Principe (Prince) beach is located on the Costa Smeralda, near Arzachena. The original name, Portu Li Coggi beach, was changed when it became the favorite of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, certainly a lover of beauty. The sand is very fine and forms a crescent in a bay where the Mediterranean scrub, with bushes and short trees, is unchallenged. An incomparable natural setting, just a few hundred meters from the parking lot. The pink granite promontories plunge into clear emerald waters and relative shades of green thanks to the shallow and sandy bottoms. For refreshment, there is a bar that also rents beach equipment.


6) Isuledda beach

The Isuledda is beautiful, and could easily deserve the podium in the ranking of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia. Located on the north-east coast, in the municipality of San Teodoro, in the province of Sassari, it is embraced by Punta Isuledda, the promontory that delimits the natural marine protected area Tavolara – Punta Coda Cavallo to the south. It has shallow and gently sloping bottoms and it extends for half a kilometer of white sand, with fine-sized grains. The body of water in front, protected by the flat protuberances of the small bay, has those greenish and bluish transparencies typical of pristine waters. The surrounding vegetation is the Mediterranean scrub. Bushes, wild herbs and small shrubs also enclose a small lagoon that the Rio Lu Chissaggiu can fill with fresh water in less dry periods. There is a bathhouse and large free stretches, with the possibility of renting beach equipment, kayaks and pedal boats. Parking is close by, giving the place the rare characteristic of comfortable wildness, and it is also free.


7) Cala Brandinchi beach

The beach of Cala Brandinchi is located in the municipality of San Teodoro, in the province of Sassari, between Punta Sabbatino and Capo Coda Cavallo. The sand is very fine and pink and it extends over a very shallow seabed, gently sloping many meters away from the shoreline. Easily accessible thanks to the nearby car park, it is set like a diamond in a precious landscape made of dunes, sea lilies and spontaneous vegetation, gardens and pine forests, with the Brandinchi pond behind it frequented by herons and pink flamingos, and the imposing island of Tavolara in the background. There are bars and rental activities for sunbeds, umbrellas, kayaks and boats.


8) Punta Molentis beach

Punta Molentis beach is located in Villasimius, in the Marine Protected Area of ​​Capo Carbonara. It is of fine sand, white with pink areas, and it is surrounded by luxuriant Mediterranean scrub. A section is in concession to a bathing establishment, while the rest of the beach is free, but with a limited number. The seabed is low, sandy and sloping. On one of the nearby hills there are the remains of a nuraghe, the characteristic ancient stone construction of Sardinia.


9) Tuerredda beach

In Teulada, right in front of the Tuerredda island (150 meters), in an inlet between Capo Malfatano and Capo Spartivento, there is this beach of pink and very fine sand, both free and equipped, also with the possibility of renting pedal boats or boats. The color of the sea, with a shallow and sandy bottom, varies from turquoise to transparent blue. Although the car park is contiguous, the surrounding landscape is that of shrubs and small lush stems of the Mediterranean scrub.


10) Porto Giunco ​​beach

The beach of Porto Giunco, in Villasimius, is easily accessible, ideal for families with children as well as for the disabled. The postcard scenery is completed by the Torre di Porto Giunco, a coastal watchtower built by the Spaniards on the east side of the Capo Carbonara promontory.

The beach of Berchida, in Siniscola, Ogliastra, is made up of fine sand, between pink and white, and it is framed in a wild mountain landscape. The Rio Berchida feeds a pond, Sa Salinedda, where cattle and sheep come down to drink in the cooler periods. It is an uncontaminated naturalistic framework with this beach about five kilometers long that plunges into a transparent blue and green sea. The nearby car park also allows accessibility for the disabled. There are large free stretches, bars, restaurants, beach and water sports equipment rentals and concessionary establishments.


12) Piscinas beach

In Ingurtosu, a fraction of the municipality of Arbus, the bushy dunes of fine and golden sand reach the sea: we find ourselves in front of the Piscinas beach, a spectacle created by Mother Nature. The two kiosks that rent beach equipment seem to disappear in the immensity of the coast. The seabed is immediately deep and the Mistral wind blows frequently. Junipers, wild olive trees and mastic trees crowd the coastal scrub.


13) La Pelosa beach

If from the beach you see a defensive tower on an islet located between Isola Piana and Capo Falcone (Asinara strait), then there is no doubt: you are on La Pelosa beach and you have certainly noticed the whiteness and fineness of the sand, the crystalline sea with a sandy and very shallow seabed. Close to the inhabited center of the municipality of Stintino, and separated from the main road by a strip of vegetation, however, it is limited in number, given the considerable influx of people, and it is necessary to book. From June to September, a maximum of 1,500 people per day are allowed to enter, and there is not a lot of space.


14) Cala Luna beach

The beach of Cala Luna, of sand with medium-sized grains and gravel, is located in the Gulf of Orosei, where the Codula di Luna stream flows into a small lake after having traveled a few kilometers starting from Mount Oseli. Completely free, it is not easily accessible from the ground, as the paths that reach the beach are neither easy to cross nor short. The typically Mediterranean luxuriant vegetation is also present on the ridge that borders the cove, at the foot of which, on the shoreline, there are some suggestive caves that the atmospheric agents have carved into the limestone rock.


15) Portu S’Illixi beach

Portu S’illixi beach is part of the municipality of Muravera, on the south-eastern Sardinian coast, in Capo Ferrato. With grainy sand and deep waters, it is surrounded by wild nature and it is completely free, without services. The car park is not far away: you have to take a fairly steep but short path. At the center of the coast a rock stretches towards the pristine sea.
