Sardinia, Porto Torres: ferries from Genoa, Savona and Civitavecchia

Italian routes to Porto Torres

The municipality of Porto Torres is located in the Gulf of Asinara, on the north-west side of Sardinia. The port of the same name is an important maritime station where passenger ships arrive from Genoa (Liguria), Savona, and Civitavecchia (Lazio); it is the second largest in terms of traffic on the whole island, and it represents the most convenient Sardinian port for those who it must reach an area of ​​the territory of the entire province of Sassari by sea.

International routes are also active, such as those from France (Toulon) and Corsica (Ajaccio), which allow you to reach the territory overlooking the Sardinian Sea from the mainland, but in this article the national routes are analyzed.

Genoa-Porto Torres ferries

The ships of the Tirrenia fleet that are used on this route are Athara, Janas, Sharden, who can leave in the morning, with a navigation duration of nine hours and a half, or in the evening; in this case the duration of the crossing is ten hours. On board these Fast Cruise Ferries, the deck passage, the seat or the cabin can be booked and there are services such as the restaurant, the self-service, the bar, vending machines, the cinema, the children’s area.

GNV ships operate the route during the summer and also in October, and are GNV Blu, GNV Allegra, Rhapsody. The duration of the trip can vary between twelve hours and thirty minutes and thirteen hours and forty-five minutes. Here, too, the accommodation can be the deck seat, the armchair, the cabin, and in addition there are the suites. On-board services include a pizzeria, restaurant, self-service, snack bar, shop and children’s room.


Civitavecchia-Porto Torres ferries

The Civitavecchia ➜ Porto Torres ferries (at the link you can find out the dates and times of departure, prices and other information) are two twin flagships of Grimaldi Lines, which travel the route only once a week in low season (departure evening and duration of navigation of seven and a half hours), three times a week in early summer (departures in the evening and duration of the trip that varies between seven and a half and eight hours), four times a week in high season (departures are always in the evening and duration of the crossing is of seven and a quarter or seven and a half hours).

The types of accommodation on board the Cruise Roma and Cruise Barcelona are the armchair, the cabin with four bunk beds, the Junior suite, with double bed and bunk sofa bed, or the Owner’s suite, which can differ from the Junior only for the greater spaciousness or even for the presence of the sitting room. There are an à la carte restaurant and a self-service one, cafes, an equipped area for children, a wellness center, a casino and a disco.


Savona-Porto Torres ferries

The ferry Savona ➜ Porto Torres is no longer operational. It was from the navigation company Grimaldi Lines. The races were three times a week but in summer they became daily (excluding Sundays). The travel time varied between nine hours and thirty minutes and twelve hours for night journeys, and eight hours and thirty minutes for daytime journeys.

The navigation unit was the Zeus Palace, where to spend the crossing you could sit in an armchair or reserve a cabin (with four bunk beds or Superior). There was a self-service refreshment point, several cafes, an area equipped for children and a shop.
