This winter sports center is located at an altitude between 1700 and 2325 meters. We are talking about <strong>Mount Aroania<\/strong>, also called Chelmos, the third highest mountain in the Peloponnese, which up to 1800 meters is covered by a pine forest; further up, the surface characterized by meadows and rock is invariably covered with snow during the winter season; the nearest city, <strong>fourteen kilometers away, is Kalavryta<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ferry to Patras<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To get to Kalavryta, a municipality in the peripheral unit of Achaia, you can, starting from Italy, take one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/en\/international-ferry-routes-to-patras-greece\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/en\/international-ferry-routes-to-patras-greece\/\">ferries to Patras<\/a> that leave their moorings from Ancona, Venice, Bari or Brindisi. Korinthou Patron, the Olympia Odos\/E65\/\u0395\u039f8\u0391 highway and finally Epar.Od. Pountas-Kalavriton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>By bus (Aloha SnowBus)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The easiest and cheapest way to travel from Patras to the ski resort is the <strong>Aloha SnowBus<\/strong> (more information about this bus is at the web address <em>kalavritaski.gr\/snowbus<\/em>), which allows for a comfortable journey, also avoiding queues at the ski resort ticket offices and saving money: in fact, it is possible to combine the purchase of the bus ticket with the rental of equipment and ski or snowboard lessons at very convenient prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><br>By train<\/h3>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Treno_Diakopto_Kalavryta-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-8697\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Treno_Diakopto_Kalavryta-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Treno_Diakopto_Kalavryta-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Treno_Diakopto_Kalavryta-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Treno_Diakopto_Kalavryta.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><em>Diakopto &#8211; Kalavryta train<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>By train (timetables and tickets can be found at web address <em>hellenictrain.gr\/en<\/em>) you need to change at Diakopto, which can be reached in fifty minutes on the C7 or C9. From here the journey becomes exciting: on the Diakopto &#8211; Kalavryta line there is the famous <strong>Odontotos Railway<\/strong>, the most spectacular in the Balkans! It completes the route in one hour (about 22 kilometers), crossing <strong>mountain landscapes of rare beauty<\/strong>, bridges and the gorge next to the Vouraikos, the river that creates small and large waterfalls: near Katarraktis, the waters fall almost vertically and rapidly under the line bridge. It is worth mentioning that the first November snows have already appeared on the peaks of Chelmos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the base of the area there are three private <strong>ski, snowboard and ski bike schools<\/strong>, as well as independent <strong>instructors<\/strong> in possession of all the certifications. <strong>Rental of ski equipment<\/strong> and sledges is available, as well as a <strong>shop<\/strong> selling ski accessories (helmets, gloves, hats, goggles, and more).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hut and other structures in the area open in mid-December; from that moment on, various initiatives are planned, such as the organization of a special course aimed exclusively at <strong>children<\/strong>.
