The route, <strong>14 nautical miles<\/strong> long, crosses the <strong>Piombino canal<\/strong>, which separates Elba from the mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The shipping companies operating on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.traghettiup.com\/en\/tratte\/piombino-portoferraio\">Piombino \u279c&nbsp;Portoferraio<\/a> route, which takes<strong> an hour to travel<\/strong>, are Moby, Blu Navy and Toremar, which also uses a hydrofoil, the Schiopparello Jet; in the latter case, the duration of the navigation drops to 40 minutes.
