You can arrive in Sardinia by ship or by plane.\u00a0The Sardinian ports are various and you can choose the place of landing depending on the area of the region where you want to go.\u00a0For the north-east there are the ports of\u00a0Olbia and Golfo Aranci<\/a>, for Ogliastra and the east there is the port of\u00a0Arbatax<\/a>, for the south\u00a0Cagliari<\/a>\u00a0while for the north-west\u00a0Porto Torres<\/a>.\u00a0There are also three airports (in Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari) but we have already written about\u00a0why it is better to travel by ship rather than by plane<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Italian landing place that guarantees the shortest route in order to reach the island of Sardinia is the port of Civitavecchia<\/a>. From here the closest is the port of Olbia<\/a> (two hundred and thirty kilometers away) and the Tirrenia<\/a> fast ships guarantee this route daily, morning and evening, in eight hours, with a deck<\/em>, armchair<\/em> or cabin<\/em> passage. Passengers must show up for boarding at least half an hour before departure, while those traveling with a vehicle at least an hour and a half before. Grandi Navi Veloci (GNV<\/a>) ferries make the route in six hours and forty-five minutes, with the possibility of Armchair<\/em>, bed<\/em>, cabin<\/em> or suite<\/em>; it is necessary to go to boarding at least two hours before. Grimaldi Lines<\/a> ferries also works on summer on this route and also on the one to the port of Cagliari<\/a>. The rules of this company invite you to show up for boarding at least an hour and a half before departure, or two hours before if traveling by vehicle. It departs from Civitavecchia three times a week at eight in the evening and arrive in Cagliari the next morning (some routes arrive at 9:00 am, others at 11:00 am), with a motor ship with Bridge<\/em>, Poltrona<\/em> or Cabin<\/em>. The port of Arbatax<\/a> can also be reached by the Grimaldi Lines motor ship which depart twice a week at 20:00 and arrive there at 5:00 the next morning. For the port of Porto Torres,<\/a> the Grimaldi fleet offers a Cruise ferry<\/em>, with the possibility of Suite<\/em> cabins and many services on board, which leaves once a week in the evening and takes seven and a half hours. It is necessary to show up for boarding at least thirty minutes before departure, which becomes ninety minutes if you have a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From the port of Livorno<\/a> you can go to Olbia with the Cruise ferry<\/em> carriers of the Moby company, thanks to daytime runs lasting 7-8 hours or at night 8-9 hours (boarding presentation times are half an hour earlier, or an hour and a half earlier if you are leaving by vehicle). In alternative, with those Grimaldi Lines with departures in the morning and in the evening lasting 9 hours (you must show up at least ninety minutes before departure, with or without a vehicle). The route from Livorno to the port of Golfo Aranci<\/a> is also carried out all year round, by Corsica Ferries – Sardinia Ferries<\/a>, with Cruise<\/em> ferries (with armchairs or cabins during the day or exclusive beds or cabins at night). From May to October, Moby makes the Genoa – Olbia line in ten hours of navigation (you must go to boarding at least thirty minutes before departure or within two hours if by vehicle). The route is also served from mid-May to early October by the GNV company in about twelve and a half hours. GNV also goes to Porto Torres from mid-May to mid-August.
