Ferries to Corsica<\/a> from Italy are increasing. In 2024 there will be two new lines<\/strong>, one of which also represents the shortest route (and the fastest connection) that connects the French island to the continent: it is the Piombino \u2013 Bastia<\/strong>, just 50 nautical miles long each way, while the other is Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio; both represent an absolute novelty for passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ships of the Moby Lines fleet travel these routes. This last line is actually better classified as Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio \u2013 Porto Torres<\/strong> as it also has Sardinia as a stopover, but it should be added that the Porto Torres \u2013 Ajaccio return route has already been operated for some years by the Corsica Ferries \u2013 Sardinia Ferries company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Piombino \u2013 Bastia maritime line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Piombino \u2013 Bastia<\/a> maritime line, operated by the Moby shipping company in high season, connects the important Tuscan port to the main port of Corsica. The route, with its 50 nautical miles (about 92 kilometres), represents the shortest route and the fastest maritime connection<\/strong> among all those that connect the so-called island of beauty to the mainland<\/strong>. The return trips are carried out during the day on Saturdays and Sundays and the duration of the crossing is between three and three and a half hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio \u2013 Porto Torres maritime line<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new Moby Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio \u2013 Porto Torres maritime line allows you to reach, on the outward journey, from the Ligurian port, the capital of Corsica (intermediate port of call)<\/strong> and therefore the north-west of Sardinia (final port of call). On the return it originates from the Sardinian port for an intermediate stop in the port of the Corsican capital with continuation towards the final port of Genoa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The two-way Genoa \u2013 Ajaccio<\/a> route, operated by the Moby shipping company in high season, recently implemented following great customer request, connects the port of the capital of Liguria, the largest in Italy, to the port of the capital of the French island. The outward or return journeys cover approximately 149 nautical miles (276 kilometers) and are carried out, at night, in nine hours<\/strong>, two or three times a week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Porto Torres \u2013 Ajaccio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The two-way Porto Torres \u2013 Ajaccio<\/a> route, already served for some time by the Corsica Ferries \u2013 Sardinia Ferries company, is therefore currently operated, in high season, also by Moby Lines with a bi-weekly or thrice-weekly frequency, and a journey duration of three hours<\/strong>. The outward journeys are in the evening, while the return ones are in the morning and with each one you sail for 67 nautical miles (approximately 124 kilometres).<\/p>\n\n\n
