Let’s find out which are the beaches of the Amalfi Coast<\/strong>, along the stretch of coast of the Sorrento peninsula that winds between Positano and Vietri sul Mare<\/strong>, also knowing the salient characteristics and the municipalities to which they belong, in order, from west to east. In any case, those listed and described below can all be reached from the ground: in fact, they are located near the strada statale 163 Amalfitana<\/em><\/strong> road, which borders the coast line although it has various curves. The rocky coves and the few sandy shores that can only be approached from the sea with private boats, not reached by taxi-boats, have not been taken into consideration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be kept in mind that almost the entire area between Positano and Ravello (and also coastal stretches further on), given the exposure to the sun and the presence of the slopes behind it, is not shaded very late in the afternoon, and that in general all beaches are both highly coveted and not terribly large. The quality of the water is usually of the highest level except near the port of Salerno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To get to the UNESCO World Heritage Riviera you can travel by hydrofoil departing from Naples, the islands of the gulf, the Sorrento coast or Salerno; there are also many internal routes that connect some seaside villages in the area. The sea connections to and from the Amalfi Coast<\/a> represent an excellent alternative to traveling by car or bus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where to go to the beach on the Amalfi Coast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

So let’s see where you can swim on the so-called Amalfi Coast, discovering the possibilities that each municipality presents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Positano<\/h3>\n\n\n

Spiaggia Grande<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Positano, at the foot of the village, we find the beach Spiaggia Grande<\/strong>, more than 400 meters long, of sand of medium-sized grains and pebbles. There is no shortage of bars, restaurants and bathing establishments, as well as free stretches managed by the municipality; the reservation is necessary in any case, due to the considerable tourist turnout, as is the payment (to access the stretches not in concession to private establishments the cost is lower).<\/p>\n\n\n

Fornillo<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Less frequented and less extensive, inserted in a more natural context, is the Fornillo beach<\/strong>, in the Positano district of the same name, made of gravel and pebbles, with bars, restaurants, bathing establishments and stretches of free use.<\/p>\n\n\n

Arienzo<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Arienzo beach<\/strong> is made of sand, gravel and pebbles, both free and equipped, also equipped with a bar and restaurant, and can be reached via several steps (about 300) which separate it from the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Laurito beach<\/strong> is also accessible via a long staircase; of sand and pebbles, it is free at times, with a bathing establishment and restaurant, and owes its name to the laurel plant, which abounds in the surrounding Mediterranean scrub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Praiano<\/h3>\n\n\n

Marina di Praia<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Praiano we find the small beach of Marina di Praia<\/strong>, set between the cliffs and sunny only in the central hours of the day. The sand is of medium grain, mixed with pebbles. There is an equipped establishment and a bar-restaurant, as well as a small free section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Furore<\/h3>\n\n\n

Fjord of Furore<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Fjord of Furore<\/strong> is so called because the small free beach (25 meters) of sand and pebbles is washed by a narrow arm of the sea that has crept into the coast up to the valley where the Schiato torrent flows. It is sunny only in the early afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Conca dei Marini<\/h3>\n\n\n

Marina di Conca<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Conca dei Marini, in the bay of the same name, there is the pebble and gravel beach of Marina di Conca<\/strong>, located close to a cliff and accessible via about 300 steps. Restaurants and bathing facilities are available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Amalfi<\/h3>\n\n\n

Beach of the Vite<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Amalfi, proceeding along the west-east axis, the first we find is the pebble beach of the Vite<\/strong>, right on the border with the municipality of Conca dei Marini, from where the mixed route by land and sea begins (which you have to cross): from the cove of Marina di Conca the boats of the Vite bathing establishments will transport you to your destination, upon reservation. Even restaurants offer boat service to customers.<\/p>\n\n\n

Santa Croce<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The beach of Santa Croce<\/strong>, both equipped and free, with stones and pebbles, can only be reached by sea, with the taxi service that the boatmen carry out from the port. There are bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n\n\n

Duoglio<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

About a kilometer before the centre, Duoglio beach<\/strong> is separated from the SS 163 road by about 400 steps. Made of sand and pebbles, it can also be reached via the taxi-boat service operating in the Amalfi port. There are both two bathing establishments with restaurants and small free stretches. The sun goes out in mid-afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n

Lido delle Sirene<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Lido delle Sirene<\/strong> is located outside the arm of the port of Amalfi. The beach is pebbly and is managed. There is a bar restaurant and the possibility of renting bathing equipment or hanging out your own towel, paying less.<\/p>\n\n\n

Marina Grande<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The beach of Marina Grande<\/strong> is the most famous and popular, near the port and the center, made of sand and pebbles, with many services, not only catering, available. The dimensions are above the average of the area, but it is never easy to find a place, both in the bathing establishments, where reservations are recommended, and in the two free areas on the sides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Atrani<\/h3>\n\n\n

The beach of Atrani<\/strong>, at the foot of the village, is much appreciated by families with children, both for the medium-grained sand and for the cliffs that protect it from the waves. There are bathing establishments and a small free section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Ravello<\/h3>\n\n\n

Castiglione<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Ravello there is Castiglione beach<\/strong>: reachable via 200 steps, approximately 100 meters long, of sand and pebbles, both equipped and free, it is shaded in the early afternoon by the cliff behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Minori<\/h3>\n\n\n

Beach of Minori<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The beach of Minori<\/strong>, located near the town, from which it is separated only by the state road, is about 250 meters long, quite wide, mostly of medium-grained sand and sunny until late afternoon. There are equipped bathing establishments and stretches of free use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Maiori<\/h3>\n\n\n

Beach of Maiori<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Maiori beach <\/strong>is more than 900 meters long and it is sandy, with dark grains of volcanic origin, and very sunny until late afternoon; the strada statale<\/em> road separates it from the town. It is largely licensed to beach establishment, but there are also two free sections at the ends.<\/p>\n\n\n

Salicerchie<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The beach of Salicerchie<\/strong>, also known as Acquachiara<\/em><\/strong>, is about 40 meters long, made of pebbles, and can be reached via a flight of about fifty steps, there is an equipped bathing establishment, snack bar and small free space.<\/p>\n\n\n

Erchie<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Erchie beach<\/strong>, in the homonymous Maiorese hamlet, extends for 200 meters between a Saracen tower (La Cerniola<\/em>) and a rocky outcrop, and it is both equipped and free. It is of fine sand, and pebbly towards the shoreline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suverano beach<\/strong> (also called “Lo Sgarrupo<\/em>” because the path to reach it is not easy, more like a cliff than a pathway) is made of white pebbles, completely free, wild and without services. It is not suitable for everyone as on the way back it is necessary to make a real climb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Cetara<\/h3>\n\n\n

Marina beach<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Cetara, just before the small port, we find the small pebble beach of the port<\/strong>, with a bathing establishment. Immediately after the port, on the other hand, there is another larger one (90 meters), the Marina beach<\/strong>, in parts sandy and in parts pebbly, surrounded by the houses of the village, both free and equipped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lannio beach<\/strong> is about 100 meters long, of sand and pebbles, in concession to an establishment with a kiosk bar and restaurant but with a free stretch, accessible via a flight of steps located near the Vicereale Tower (the so-called Torretta<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The small sandy beach of Tuoro Vecchio<\/strong> is located a few tens of meters from the previous one; the bathing establishment is managed by the Hotel Cetus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Vietri sul Mare<\/h3>\n\n\n

Marina di Albori<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

In Vietri sul Mare we find the beach of Marina di Albori<\/strong>, in the homonymous Vietri district. Made of pebbles, it can be reached by walking around 200 steps and it has two bathing establishments and a restaurant. Through a wooden walkway it is possible to access another small beach, called Torre d’Albori.<\/p>\n\n\n

Marina di Vietri<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The Marina di Vietri beach<\/strong>, which can be reached from the perched Vietri center via a steep descent, is located a short distance from the block of the homonymous hamlet. Made of sand, it is very wide, with an equipped establishment and a free stretch, divided in two by the Bonea river.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crestarella beach<\/strong> is dominated by the homonymous sixteenth-century tower erected on the adjacent promontory called Cannocchiale. Furthermore, the rocks “I Due Fratelli” can be seen not far away.<\/p>\n\n\n

La Baia<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

La Baia<\/strong> is the beach on the coast near the port of Salerno, made of sand with medium-sized grains and pebbles in some areas of the shore. 400 meters long, it has several bathing establishments.<\/p>\n\n\n
